Family as a basic institution of population reproduction (on materials of the Vologda region)

The article considers the role of the family in the reproduction of the population at different stages of its transformation. Based on monitoring data it identifies the place of family and parenthood in the system of life values of the population, its relation to marriage. The differences of reproductive attitudes of the population depending on the preferred form of matrimonial relations are defined. The basic directions of family policy, aimed at increasing the number of children in Russian families are proposed
